Frequently Asked Questions
No. Hammering without a “Pilot Hole” could damage the module. More importantly, hammering causes excessive soil compaction, which restricts the flow of water and nutrients toward the plant’s feeder roots. We recommend using our “HydroTwist” augers to install our modules.
We recommend using our “HydroTwist” mini-augers with a power drill for proper installation.
Not at all! The HydroFlow modules are engineered to stay in the ground for all your watering and feeding cycles, season after season after season!
The mower will not affect the HydroFlow modules as long as the top of the modules are installed below the grass height, or below the height of the mower cutting blade.
A small amount of dirt will not affect the performance of the system, but if you feel the amount of soil inside the fertilizer shaft restricts the flow of water or fertilizer, then we suggest pulling the module out of the ground, rinse out the dirt, then reinstall. We recommend cleaning out the existing pilot hole with our HydroTwist auger before reinstalling.
Yes! Definitely. We safely engineered the HydroFlow modules to withstand multiple uses and locations through the rigors of the environment.
No. The HydroFlow System provides direct access to your plants root structure allowing them to grow deeper and spread wider. This results in greater plant stability, higher survival rates and healthier long-term growth. Avoiding excessive top surface watering reduces any weed’s ability to get water, thus reducing their quantities significantly! This alone will save even more time and money to prevent or remove them.
Yes, the module will still work without the top. We recommend ordering another top to prevent insects from making a new home.
The HydroFlow modules will work within all types of USDA described soils.
Yes, always contact your local government offices to request underground facility markings prior to any landscape installations. Typically, there is no charge for this service.
Not at all, the HydroFlow modules are manufactured with sturdy, inert, environmentally safe polymers. There is no worry about hazardous chemicals leeching into your surrounding soils, at any time.
Yes. Your HydroFlow modules allow you to water and fertilize your landscape materials at any time! Even years down the road.
Fertilizer loading in the HydroFlow module is only accessible on one end. Please load the pointed end into the pilot hole first.
Typically, you will need more than one “Water Relief” module. The number of the HydroFlow water relief modules required is dependent on various inputs… type of soil, size of ponding area, and depth of water at the deepest point. Please contact us with your specific questions.
Understand the root structure of your tree specimen (re: Google). If your tree has a 12” diameter root ball, please use our 16” modules next to the burlap ball, inside of the planting hole for ease of watering and feedings. The modules should be placed in a triangular format about the same distance apart with the directional bead aimed toward the tree trunk. Always consult with your local arborist or landscape supply store for the type and quantity of granular fertilizer for your type of tree. Then watch your trees grow “Bigger. Greener. Stronger for Longer”!
After determining the quantity of fertilizer, using a funnel simplifies the fertilizer loading procedure. If you are Installing the modules for the first time, it is helpful to “pre-load” the modules with the recommended type and amount of fertilizer, then install as per the supplied instructions.
At this time, We would recommend a dry granular fertilizer, though we are currently working on a method to integrate a liquid fertilizer as well. Stay Tuned!
Speak with your local arborist, or your landscape supply store regarding the type and quantity of fertilizer. Fertilizing in the early Spring and late Fall is typically specified.
